Do You Know Lacy? - Kalispell

“Hi, my name is Lacy. I was born in the hospital just down the street 15 years ago and still live in your community today. I need your help. Do you want to hear my story? Will you be the one to help me?
"Lacy" is the name we
use to represent all victims of domestic minor sex trafficking. The Do You Know Lacy Training is a 5-track community training. Together
with other leaders in your community you will learn about the national issue of
domestic minor sex trafficking (DMST), hear the personal account of a survivor,
better understand what conditions make children vulnerable to trafficking, and
learn the methods of pimp control and why victims don't self-identify or flee.

Law Enforcement ($50) – Identifying and Protecting Lacy:
Who: Local, state and federal law enforcement officers and prosecuting attorneys.
Juvenile detention and probation officers should register under Juvenile Service Providers.

Knowing Lacy will help you to understand and empower you in your role as a member of law enforcement to:
- Accurately identify potential victims of human trafficking
- Know specific steps to take leading to successful investigations
- Receive tools for recognizing and handling evidence, search warrants and operation plans
- Process a case from an investigation to conviction using actual case studies
- Understand state and federal laws about DMST
Juvenile Service Providers ($50) – Identifying and Serving Lacy:
Who: Those who directly participate in official intake and case management with youth- Social workers, sexual assault advocates, domestic violence advocates, Child Protective Services, child advocacy centers and all health professionals.
Juvenile detention and probation officers should register here.

- Use an intake tool with proven success to accurately identify potential victims of trafficking
- Understand how victims of trafficking can easily be misidentified in your current work
- Understand the recruitment, grooming and control of pimps
- Understand complex and trauma bonds that present barriers to appropriate services for survivors
Community Advocates ($35) – Identifying and Helping Lacy:
Who: Concerned citizens, parents and grandparents, educators, news reporters, Soroptimists, Rotary and Zonta members, students, anti-trafficking groups/task forces, members of the business community, pastors and members of the faith-based community; other.

- Identify possible trafficking and appropriately respond
- Understand how to identify changes in a youth's life that may signal a trafficking situation
- Understand what your role is in identifying and helping Lacy
- Utilize tools and resources to help you fulfill your role in Lacy's life
- Actively cultivate in your community a compassionate, non-judgmental and safe environment for long-term care of Lacy
- Leave with a proactive plan that you can put into action in your community
Advocate of Youth ($35/$50) – Identifying and Supporting Lacy: This track is now full
Who: All those who directly work with youth in supportive roles - Teachers and principals, youth pastors, school counselors, crisis center employees, youth empowerment organizations, peer programs, the Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the YMCA, the YWCA, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, etc.

- Understand how to identify changes in a youth's life that may signal a trafficking situation
- Understand what your role is in identifying and helping Lacy
- Utilize tools and resources to help you fulfill your role in Lacy's life
- Actively cultivate in your community a compassionate, non-judgmental and safe environment for long-term care of Lacy
- Leave with a proactive plan that you can put into action in your community
The Defenders ($35, for men only) – Identifying and Defending Lacy:
Who: Every man who wants to understand how to defend Lacy. Defenders are essential in a community effort to prevent and restore victims of DMST and ending demand.

- Accurately identify potential victims of human trafficking and respond appropriately
- Understand methods of control and coercion used by pimps
- Defend and protect your community from commercial sex industry
- Protect yourself against the harms of pornography, sexual performance and prostitution
- Train and empower the young men of your community to become men of dignity and respect by honoring and protecting women and children
