Shared Hope is currently on the ground in San Antonio! On December 1st, Shared Hope will be releasing the Protected Innocence Initiative (PII) report cards parallel to the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) winter meeting in San Antonio, Texas.

For the past year, Shared Hope has conducted intensive research and analysis of the laws for all 50 states and the District of Columbia relating to domestic minor sex trafficking. The PII Framework addresses six areas of law:

1) Criminalization of domestic minor sex trafficking
2) Criminal provisions addressing demand (buyers)
3) Criminal provisions for traffickers (pimps)
4) Criminal provisions for facilitators (such as hotels, transports, websites, etc.)
5) Protective provisions for the child victims
6) Criminal justice tools for investigation and prosecutions

Shared Hope’s legal research in these areas provides the foundation for each state’s letter grade and report card. Shared Hope developed recommendations for ways in which states can strengthen legislation or introduce new legislation to better protect our children and improve efforts to combat domestic minor sex trafficking.

On December 1, at 8:00am CST in the Grand Hyatt in San Antonio, Linda Smith and Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna, among other guests, will help Shared Hope officially release the Protected Innocence Challenge report cards to the public. Today (November 30) at 5:00pm CST, three Pathbreaker Awards will be presented to Attorneys General who have made significant strides in combating the issue of child sex trafficking. Following the release, there will be an Executive Briefing featuring a panel of speakers who will discuss the findings from the Protected Innocence Challenge and provide tips that will help you take action in your state!

Shared Hope welcomes you to join us for the release in San Antonio, Texas.  If you cannot make it to the event, please join Shared Hope for a live webcast of the executive briefing.

We look forward to you joining us in San Antonio or online for the release!

"I've read a lot Of articles published by Village Voice and they all try to sweep sex trafficking under the rug, or claim that it doesn't exist or try to minimize it. They're obviously trying to protect their revenue, even if it comes from exploiting women and children. So obviously their opinion is biased big time. " Read more
