Today, the 2011 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report was released by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at the U.S. Department of State.  “We really need to mix commitment with actions in order to get results,” said Secretary Clinton.

In 2000, the TVPA created tools to enable the U.S. government to address the prevention of human trafficking, prosecution of traffickers, and protection of victims. Over a decade later, complex challenges continue to affect the effectiveness of these provisions.

Do Inappropriate Human Trafficking Task Force Names Encourage Victim Blaming?

Human Trafficking Task Forces do wonderful work in rescuing victims and arresting traffickers, but some have chosen titles implying the guilt of minors.  Since victim blaming is a real problem in our culture, how can task forces choose neutral titles that protect the victim status of minors forced into the commercial sex industry?

Global effort takes a step forward: Delta and Hilton sign the Code of Conduct

Pierre PouliquinCommercial sexual exploitation of children is a serious, hideous crime occurring every day throughout the world. There is an urgent need for global efforts to eradicate the issue. Delta Air Lines and Hilton Worldwide, Inc. recently joined the effort to combat commercial sexual exploitation of children. Both companies will commit to implementing policies that condemn child trafficking and exploitation and providing training to help their employees identify and report illicit activities.
