On October 22nd, 2011, D.C. Stop Modern Slavery held the 3rd annual Stop Modern Slavery walk with over 2,000 walkers and supporters. Shared Hope International, along with many other organizations and individuals, joined on the National Mall to support the anti-slavery movement .

In 2000, the federal Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) was enacted to provide a strong legal platform to bring justice to victims. Though this resource is a vital component in our federal legislative framework, most cases of domestic minor sex trafficking are declined for federal prosecution. That is why Shared Hope International launched the Protected Innocence Initiative.

Purchasing Power: Why Do Johns Buy Sex?

A recent study, “Comparing Sex Buyers with Men Who Don’t Buy Sex,”  reveals the differences between men who buy sex (johns) and those who don’t (non-sex buyers), and the results are astonishing. This study takes a hard look at the characteristics of johns and their non-sex buying counterparts. The honest and graphic accounts of the john’s experiences purchasing sex may be shocking, but it could also be exactly what the anti-sex trafficking world needs to end modern-day slavery.
