Community Awareness

Few Americans realize that human trafficking is prevalent in the United States. Shared Hope International understands that victims are not invisible, just misidentified. By educating communities, raising awareness, engaging key players, and focusing on demand deterrence, Shared Hope is generating the change needed to put a stop to child sex trafficking. 

There are many ways to get involved through our events and campaigns. Everyone has a valuable role to play in ending child sex slavery worldwide, and your voice, time and talent can't be underestimated! We need you to take action in your community. Kids Are Not For Sale CampaignKids Are Not For Sale

Our national awareness initiative is carried across the United States incorporating visual, educational, grassroots, policy and media-centered events to maximize impact in each location. Shared Hope International staff collaborates with local organizations and city leaders to spread the word that Kids Are Not For Sale in their community. To date, we've hosted the campaign in Oregon, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Washington, DC. Some components of the campaign thus far have been:

  • Training – local law enforcement, service providers, churches and concerned community members
  • Defenders USA– hosting a Motorcycle Ride or engaging men in discussions to develop practical methods aimed at ending demand
  • Events – campus & community awareness events, movie screenings, panel discussions
  • March or Rally – hoisting signs, handing out statistics and presenting a visual that can’t be ignored
  • Press Conference – pulling together key leaders to address campaign goals and partnerships
  • Fundraiser – Anything from a concert to a happy hour special! 
  • Donor Appreciation Dinner – An opportunity for Shared Hope staff to meet face-to-face with our donors 
  • Marketing – blasting the public with billboards, signs and ads on public transportation that remind them Kids Are Not For Sale
  • Partnership – build lasting relationships with local NGOs, policy-makers and Task Forces

The Defenders

The Defenders USA is a national initiative of Shared Hope International to mobilize men in the fight to end demand for prostituted children.  These men are taking a stance to end demand by hosting awareness events and activities across the U.S. that specifically engage other men, including motorcycle rallies, tailgating parties, and truck stop outreaches. They build shelters and protect communities from predators. Take the pledge today and become a Defender – our country needs you!
