Do You Know Lacy?

"Hi, my name is Lacy. I was born in the hospital just down the street 13 years ago and still live in your community today.

I need your help.

Do you want to hear my story? Will you be the one to help me?"

What is DMST?     Upcoming Training    The Billboard Campaign   The Protected Innocence Initiative

Lacy represents many girls across our nation, girls whose identity has been taken from them, whose innocence has been stolen. They are rented out nightly to many men who view them as prostitutes, a product they can purchase for their pleasure; they do not want to see them as someone’s daughter.

But we do. We want to remind people that each Lacy is a child, a victim of domestic minor sex trafficking, and she is being trafficked in our own communities.

 Who is Lacy?

Watch a young girl, “Lacy” share her story.

What is DMST?

DMST is Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking.

Shared Hope International conducted investigations in more than a dozen locations throughout the United States and found American children being used in the commercial sex industry. Children who are exploited through prostitution, pornography and sexual entertainment are victims of domestic minor sex trafficking.  Due to misidentification, ignorance, or efforts to keep victims safe from traffickers these minors are often labeled as delinquents and placed in detention facilities. The business of sex trafficking of America’s youth is flourishing. Growing demand for commercial sex with young, innocent girls and boys is fueled by a glorification of pimping and normalization of sexual exploitation.           DMST National Fact Sheet

The young "Lacy" in this video has permitted us to use portions of her story for our awareness campaign in the hope it will alert families and communities to protect girls like her

 The Billboard Campaign

Public awareness is key.  Perhaps you’re here at DoYouKnowLacy.com because you saw a billboard. We want to remind people that each Lacy is a child, a victim of domestic minor sex trafficking, and she is being trafficked in our own communities. That’s why we are promoting the National Billboard Campaign. We want to see this billboard popping up across the nation, making people aware, mobilizing them to take action. If you sponsor one, we’ll see it gets up in your community.

The Protected Innocence Initiative

The Protected Innocence Initiative is a comprehensive strategy to promote zero tolerance for child sex trafficking. In partnership with the American Center for Law &Justice, Shared Hope International conducted a comprehensive analysis of each state’s existing laws. The Protected Innocence Legislative Framework solely evaluates a state’s existing laws and does not evaluate enforcement or implementation.

Find your state’s grade here.

Access your state’s Analysis and Recommendations here to ask your state legislator to protect Lacy and end DMST.
