Domestic Rescue and Restoration
Since 2004, Shared Hope International has worked with the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Justice to conduct research and human rights investigations on sex trafficking in America. These investigations revealed that child sex trafficking is happening and that American children are the product for sale. This led us to uncovering how buyer demand for commercial sex was the driving force for the prevalence of sex trafficking, documented in our DEMAND. report and DEMAND. documentary.
In 2006, through a grant from the Justice Department, we conducted field assessments in ten locations across the United States to better understand the situation of child sex trafficking and provide concrete next steps to the government, communities and citizens. The findings were compiled into an unprecedented report titled,
“The National Report on Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking: America’s Prostituted Children.” Shared Hope discovered the greatest source of domestic sex trafficking victims is American citizens, and a majority of them are underage girls being criminalized rather than provided rehabilitative services. Armed with these facts, we had to take action in our own nation.
Outreach
Shared Hope International partners with organizations across the United States to fund street outreach for at-risk and trafficked women and children. These programs literally meet the girls where they are and provide resource hotlines, clothing, food, shelter placement and medical care. Partners work to support girls in order for them to escape a life of brutality, control and sexual violence.

Women's Investment Network Training Program
Operated out of our Washington state office, Shared Hope’s domestic WIN training program helps women in crisis to develop necessary skills and obtain practical job experience. Our nine-month program teaches job skills to previously exploited women, helping them enter/reenter the work force and support themselves and their families. In addition to job skills, women develop personal life skills, build confidence and become self-empowered.
