Internships

Internships at Shared Hope International allow emerging leaders to apply their knowledge and skills in a professional, non-profit environment. Shared Hope interns are usually undergraduate or graduate students looking to make a difference and expand their understanding of the issues surrounding sex trafficking, sex tourism, grassroots activism and policy change.

Internships are primarily located in the Arlington office, with opportunities also available in Vancouver, Wash., and last three months or one full semester (exceptions can be made). Interns are asked to commit between 15 and 30 hours per week. Hours offer some flexibility, depending on program and course requirements. Course credit is available. All internships are unpaid.

Interns assist in a wide range of tasks including communications, media relations, public awareness, research, program development and public policy. Internships are less than 25% administrative tasks, and consist of information gathering, staff support, event planning, design, writing projects and occasionally a special project. These special projects are designed and completed by the intern with staff guidance. This provides interns with a solid portfolio piece and experience in what project development and management looks like in a small NGO (non-government organization). Interns have the opportunity to take part in local awareness events, press conferences, Congressional hearings/briefings, roundtable discussions, symposiums and other events in the anti-trafficking community to network with leading professionals.

    • What is your experience with the issues of trafficking, forced prostitution, or sex tourism?
    • How would working with Shared Hope assist in the advancement of your professional career, and what do you hope to gain from your experience?
    • What relevant skills do you have? (Please especially note if you have research and analysis, database management, organizational, language, and/or computer skills.)
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • Recommendation Letter: Please include one professional or academic recommendation letter and the contact information for your reference.
