Shared Hope International conducted an assessment in the CNMI to examine the practices and procedures used to identify and deliver services to victims of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking - local children who are exploited for commercial sex. The CNMI Assessment may serve as a springboard to action for the CNMI Human Trafficking Intervention Coalition, and the community in order to prioritize the identification and protection of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking victims in the CNMI.
There are factors present in the CNMI that make the potential of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking very high. The willingness of all who participated in this assessment process to address the issue indicates an even greater potential to proactively prevent this exploitation. Strong and trusting relationships have been built between the entities who participated in this assessment as well as the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The CNMI Human Trafficking Intervention Coalition has benefited considerably in this relationship building.
