San Antonio
Shared Hope International conducted an assessment in San Antonio/Bexar County to examine the practices and procedures used to identify and deliver services to victims of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking - American children who are exploited through commercial sex. The San Antonio Assessment may serve as a springboard to action for the San Antonio/Bexar County Task Force on Human Trafficking and the community in order to prioritize the identification and protection of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking victims in the San Antonio area.
In the face of many challenges a diverse coalition of groups and individuals in the San Antonio area are aggressively tackling the issue of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking. The San Antonio/Bexar County Task Force on Human Trafficking, under the leadership of Hillary Chester of Catholic Charities and Sergeant Chris Burchell of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Violent Crimes Unit, has raised the issue of human trafficking to the forefront. While there are still many challenges, this unprecedented level of partnership is giving a voice to American children who are exploited through commercial sex and bringing their traffickers to justice.
