Internships at Shared Hope International
(SHI) allow emerging leaders to apply their knowledge and skills
in a professional, non-profit environment. SHI interns are usually
graduate or undergraduate students looking to make a difference
and expand their understanding of the issues surrounding sex
trafficking and sex tourism.
Internships last three months or one full semester (exceptions can be made). Interns
are asked to commit between 15 and 30 hours per week to SHI, and
are allowed flexibility in scheduling. Course credit is available.
Interns assist in a wide range of tasks, including communications and media relations, public awareness, research, program development and legal and public policy. Internships are less than 25% administrative tasks, and consist of research and information gathering, support for staff, event planning, design, writing projects and a special project. These special projects are designed and completed by the intern with staff guidance. This provides interns with a solid portfolio piece and experience in what project development and management looks like in a small NGO. Interns have the opportunity to take part in awareness events, press conferences, Congressional hearings, roundtable discussions, symposiums and other events in the anti-trafficking community to network with professionals from other organizations.
The internship program is based in Arlington, VA.
