4 Ways to Take Action Against
Child Sex Trafficking in America!

Write your Legislators

Write your legislators to express your concerns about child sex trafficking. Let it be known that victims of child sex trafficking exist in every state, including your own. Ask your legislators to commit to providing protective safe shelter for victims, and increase penalties for buyers of commercial sex with juveniles. With a chorus of concern, legislators will be compelled to engage in action.

Become an Online Advocate

Use the Internet to spread the word to your online community of friends, family, and neighbors. Participate and invite your friends into one of Shared Hope International’s social media sites, spread awareness by circulating Shared Hope’s training videos, voice your opinions on news stories and blog sites, and start a conversation of your own to raise awareness for change. Some resources to help you be an online advocate:

Be the Town Crier in your Community

You can start the change by responding to child sex trafficking in your community. No amount of commitment is too large or small - join a local meet-up group; hold an awareness dinner, meeting or conference, track local news stories and be the voice for children unjustly arrested for prostitution. Tell your community: a child cannot be a prostitute! Some resources to help you be the town crier:

Be Visible on Behalf of the Invisible

Help law enforcement identify the invisible by being the eyes and ears within your community. You can provide Shared Hope International’s training materials to your local law
enforcement, social service providers, school counselors and other first responders in your community who can increase the number of prostituted children identified and rescued.

  • Suggest our two training videos to First Responders  -  visit the Resources tab on the Shared Hope web site - coming soon.
  • Call your local television networks and newspapers  - ask them what they are doing to highlight trafficking issues in your community
