Argentina is a primary destination for sexual and labor trafficking victims-both women and children. Some victims are sent abroad, but most are trafficked inside Argentina for commercial sexual exploitation. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Dominican Republic is another significant source of trafficking victims sent to Argentina. The Government of Argentina is making efforts, including creating laws addressing trafficking-related crimes with penalties ranging from 1 to 20 years in prison.
In 2009, the Trafficking In Persons Report as a Tier 2 Watch List country due to its lack of support to trafficking victims and failure to prosecute trafficking violators.
Shared Hope International worked in Argentina to identify victims and expose predators utilizing the expertise of our Predator Project. Through undercover surveillance and numerous victims' interviews, we increased awareness and heightened efforts to combat the commercial sexual exploitation of women and children. In Argentina, this included exposing the sellers, pimps and tourists from around the world who victimize young girls and boys.
(I'd like to support Shared Hope International's life giving efforts)
